Let me know what the verdict is. Again, just trying
to be as careful with money as possible.
From : Nuel Henderson [EH] [mailto: nhenderson(absicehd.com]
Sent: Friday, May 01, 2015 10 :45 AM
To: Scott
Cc: Adrienne Ellsaesser [EH]; Gabriel Gonzalez [EH]; Vicki McCartney [EH] ; Angelica Sandoval Marin [EH]
Subject: RE : 1817 South Fresno Avenue, Stockton
Scott,
I do look at old soil data and shallower groundwater data in making a determination on whether or not a well is in an area
of known or suspected contamination; without benefit of reviewing this site again to answer your question, I suspect
impacted soil is the issue here. I will make exception if the impacted soil was limited to the screen interval of a well and
the well was utilized for remediation , such as SVE or GWE — in which case if last measured concentrations in extracted
media were ND I consider the soil to have cleaned up. If you can make a demonstration that the wells in question are no
I
longer in areas of known or suspected contamination we will revisit the issue for such wells.
Nuel Henderson
From: Scott [mailto:SBittinaer(c stratusinc. net]
Sent: Friday, May 01, 2015 10 : 29 AM
To: Gabriel Gonzalez [EH] ; Nuel Henderson [EH]
Subject: 1817 South Fresno Avenue, Stockton
Good morning. Can you please provide some clarification to me regarding San Joaquin County well destruction
procedures?
From your letter issued a few days ago, wells MW-1, 3, and 4 were approved for destruction . It was specified
that the wells must be drilled out because they are in an area of known contamination, near the former
USTs. However, the reason why the wells are being destroyed is that the samples collected from the wells were
clean for a long time, and thus not useful to the project anymore (sampling discontinued years ago) . Are you
looking at old soil data, proximity to USTs, old groundwater data, or something else to make this determination?
In the next day or two, you should receive a drilling permit application, and on the permit, it is specified that
overdrilling will be the destruction method . However, I was wondering if this can be re-considered in lieu of
pressure grouting.
t
