r `
• -$o •
- CLEARWATER
C K 0 U P [ \ C
E a ira n in rn tan S'r IC'
2 3 Well Development,Surveying,and Gauging
The three monitoring wells will be developed no sooner than 48 hours after installation has been
completed Well development will be accomplished by surging and bailing a minimum of 10 well
volumes from each well Groundwater pH, conductivity, and temperature will be monitored during
development, and samples will be collected after the parameters have stabilized Groundwater
samples will be placed in laboratory-supplied containers, stored in an ice cooler, and transported to a
state-certified laboratory Efforts will be made to combine the sampling of the new wells with the
existing wells (MW-1, -2, and-3) during the scheduled quarterly groundwater sampling event
The top of casing on each monitoring well will be surveyed relative to an established site datum
Water levels will be gauged in each monitoring well and recorded (water level measurements will be
accurate within 0 01 foot)
2 4 Chemical Analyses of Soil and Groundwater Samples
As discussed with Ms Lori Duncan of the EHD, based on previous sampling results, the chemicals of
concern are gasoline constituents, therefore, analysis of TPH as diesel will be discontinued Soil
samples collected during drilling will be analyzed for TPHg (EPA Method 8015) and BTEX with
methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) (EPA Method 8020) Water samples will be analyzed for TPHg, BTEX
and five Fuel Oxygenates (EPA Method 8260 or 8240)
. 2 5 Characterization of Investigation-Derived Waste
Soil and water generated during the drilling and purging of the three monitoring wells will be placed in
drums onsite until analytical results have been received The soil and water will be disposed of at an
appropriate facility, the method of disposal will depend upon chemical concentrations detected in the
waste
3 0 PROJECT REPORT
Following the installation of the monitoring wells, a report will be submitted to present the results of
the soil and groundwater investigation The report shall be signed by an appropriately registered or
certified professional in the state of California, and shall contain the information listed below
• Text describing the investigative methods
• Summary of analytical results and interpretation of findings
• Geologic boring logs and well completion diagrams
• Tables presenting soil and groundwater analytical results
• flaps depicting contaminant distribution in groundwater and the direction of groundwater flow
C-178 WP 3 November 18,1998
