The water table declined 2.85 to 7.50 feet during the interval
and wells 1 and 3 were dry while well 2 did not contain enough water to sample.
Grouping the wells into triads and solving the three-point problem reveals the gradients
across different portions of the site. The calculation gives the best estimate of the
gradient at the center of the triangle formed by the three wells in the triad. For the triad
consisting of wells 2, 5, and 6 the gradient was 2.97 feet per 1000 feet 193° clockwise
from north. For the triad consisting of wells 2, 5, and 4 the gradient was 2.81 feet per
1000 feet 185° clockwise from north. For the triad consisting of wells 4, 5, and 6 the
gradient was 1.78 feet per 1000 feet 220° clockwise from north. These calculated
gradients are shown on Figure 1.
Based on the measured water levels and known total depths, the volume of water resident
in each well was calculated. Three times the resident volume was purged from each well
using a 12-volt purging pump. pH, Specific Conductance, Temperature, and Turbidity
were measured during purging. Measurements recorded during purging are shown in
Table 2.
