Bear Creek Winery,Lodi FALL CREEK
First Quarter Groundwater Monitoring Report,2013 SOP ENGINEERING,INC.
1/21/2013
Well 4 is the background well for this site by virtue of its generally being the most up
gradient well in a flow regime typically having a gradient toward the southwest. In this
quarter a groundwater mound around Well 5—a residual effect of wastewater application
there—caused Well 5 to have a higher groundwater elevation than did Well 4. This is a
local and transient condition. Water quality in Well 4 represents background and water
quality in Well 5 shows the effect of the wastewater application. In this instance the
effect is an increase in calcium and magnesium bicarbonate liberated from the vadose
zone matrix by aggressive wastewater.
All of the wells, including well 4, require deepening by about 20 feet.
Please call at(831)426-9054 with any questions you may have concerning groundwater
monitoring and reporting at this site.
Sincerely yours,
Richard Armstrong,Ph.D.,P.E.
Principal Scientist
Cc: Michael Kulukjian, Bear Creek Winery, 11900 N.
