I'll work it out from here.
Thanks Vicki
Amy Terrell
>>> --Vicki McCartney [EH] " <vmccartney@sjcehd.com> 1/2/2008 12:05 PM >>>
Good afternoon, Amy.
I checked with Margaret Lagorio, Program Coordinator for Unit IV, before responding to
your email. I understand that San Joaquin County (SJC) does not have regulatory oversight
except for overseeing SJC well installation requirements when installing the monitoring
wells. Is this answer sufficient?
Vicki McCartney, Senior REHS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
600 East Main Street
Stockton, CA 95202
Phone: (209) 468-9852
Fax: (209) 468-3433
E-mail: vmccartney@sjcehd.com
-----original Message-----
From: Amy Terrell [mailto:aterrell@waterboards.ca.gov]
Sent: Wednesday, January 02, 2008 10:59 AM
To: Vicki McCartney [EH]
Subject: city of ripons 5dec07 well plan
Good Day Vicki!
Attached is a copy of the 5 december 07 monitoring well workplan provided by the City of
Ripon. They are independently investigating the source of nitrate pollution that they
suspect is coming from Ripon Farm Service. I am overseeing investigation conducted by
Ripon Farm Service.
The monitoring well workplan proposes five shallow wells (to 40 ft bgs) and 2 deep wells
(to 200 feet) . Three shallow wells are proposed on the Ripon Farm Service site with
specific locations for two of them (map was sent later and is also attached) . I
conditionally concurred with the three wells proposed on Ripon Farm Services' site.
I've spoken with my manager, Duncan Austin, about which of our agencies should have
regulatory oversight over the off-site wells that City of Ripon is proposing. He thinks
that they fall under cleanup provisions, and that the Regional Board would have oversight.
Is that San Joaquin County's understanding with regards to these monitoring wells? I
don't want to tread on any territorial toes.
Amy Terrell
1
