The <br /> investigation was initiated at the request of the San Joaquin County Public Health <br /> Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) as a result of soil sampling <br /> performed during removal of the gasoline tank which revealed the presence of petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons in the soil beneath the piping of the tank. A workplan for the investigation <br /> was prepared by Helmick & Lerner Inc. and was submitted to the PHS-EHD in a letter <br /> dated 13 June 1991. The workplan was accepted by the PHS-EHD in a letter dated 1 <br /> August 1991. <br /> This report includes a description of the soil boring drilling and sampling procedures that <br /> were used in this investigation. Boring logs describing the soil lithologies encountered <br /> while drilling, the results of the laboratory analyses of soil samples, conclusions regarding <br /> the extent of petroleum hydrocarbons in the soil in the vicinity of the former tank <br /> location, and recommendations for remediation of the site are also included in this <br /> report <br /> SITE HISTORY <br /> In December 1989, a 500-gallon underground tank used for storing gasoline was removed <br /> from Franklin High School.
