Stockton, California 95205-2551 <br /> Subject: Preliminary Site Assessment for Underground Storage Tank <br /> Franklin High School <br /> HLi 0089003 <br /> Dear Mr. Leubner: <br /> This report summarizes the results of our soil investigation of the former locatfon of an <br /> underground gasoline storage tank at Franklin High School. Franklin High School is <br /> ' located at 300 North Gertrude Street in Stockton, California (see Figure 1). The <br /> w investigation was initiated at the request of the San Joaquin County Public Health <br /> Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) as a result of soil sampling <br /> Y 1'u <br /> performed during removal of the gasoline tank which revealed the presence of petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons in the soil beneath the piping of the tank. A workplan for the investigation <br /> c. was prepared by Helmick & Lerner Inc. and was submitted to the PHS-EHD in a letter <br /> { dated 13 June 1991. The workplan was accepted by the PHS-EHD in a letter dated i <br /> August 1991. <br /> This report Includes a description of the soil boring drilling and sampling procedures that <br /> were used In this investigation. Boring logs describing the soil lithologi•s encountered <br /> while drilling,the results of the laboratory analyses of soil samples,conclusions regarding <br /> the extent of petroleum hyarocarbons In the soil in the vicinity of the former tank <br /> location, and recommendat!ons for remediation of the site are also included In this <br /> report. <br /> SITE HISTORY <br /> In December 1989, a 500-gallon underground tank used for storing gasoline was removed <br /> from Franklin High School. One soil sample was collected from the excavation by a <br /> r <br /> -. representative from the San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental <br /> F <br />
