Quarterly Report - October 1997
' LARRY'S AUTO REPAIR
308 North Grant Street, Stockton, California
10. INTRODUCTION AND SCOPE OF WORK
' In accordance with a request from Mr Charles Skobrak,Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc (AGE)
has prepared this report summarizing ground water monitoring activities performed at 308 North
Grant Street, Stockton,California Quarterly ground water monitoring was conducted on 27 October
' 1997 The location of the site is illustrated in Figure 1 -Location Map Structures and well locations
are illustrated on Figure 2 - Site Plan Background information was summarized in the Quarterly
' Report-August 1997 prepared by AGE
Field work was performed in accordance viith San Joaquin County Public Health Services -
' Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) and Regional Water Quality Control Board - Central
Valley Region (RWQCB-CVR) guidelines for the investigation of underground storage tank (UST)
sites
2 0. PROCEDURES
21 MONITORING WELL PURGE PROCEDURES
On 27 October 1997, a Solinst water level meter was used to measure the depth to ground water in
five monitoring wells and seven vapor wells at the site relative to the top of the well casing A Ullage
interface probe was used to check for the presence of free product in wells MW-2, MW-4, VW-213,
VW-3, VW-4 and VW-5B The relative ground water elevations, ground water flow direction and
hydraulic gradient were determined from these data (Table 1)
After measuring ground water depths, monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, MW-4 and MW-7
and vapor wells VW-313, VW-4B, VW-513 and VW-5C were purged using a Grundfos submersible
purge pump Vapor well VW-213 was purged using a pre-cleaned PVC bailer Approximately 1 5
to 18 gallons of water were removed from each purged well (minimum of thi ee well-volumes for
each well) Temperature, pH and conductivity were measured at regular intervals during purging
The measured properties of the purged water and the field sheets are included in Appendix A The
purged water was stored on-site in 55-gallon DOT drums pending laboratory analyses
22 COLLECTION OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
Water samples were collected from each purged well using new disposable bailers Each sample was
transferred into 40-ml EPA-approved VOA vials containing 0 5 ml of 18% hydrochloric acid as a
preservative' The sample from MW-4 was also transferred into a 1-liter amber bottle without
Adianced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
