i <br /> i <br /> QUARTERLY REPORT <br /> February 1994 <br /> I Larry's Auto Repair <br /> 308 North Grant Street <br /> Stockton, California <br /> I <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> IIn accordance with a request from Mr Charlie Skobrak, Geological Audit Services, Inc <br /> (GeoAudit) has prepared this report summarizing assessment and monitoring activities <br /> I performed during the first quarter o€1994 at 308 North Grant Street in Stockton, California <br /> (the site) Four monitoring wells and one soil boring were installed and sampled. The <br /> purpose of this investigation was to assess the lateral extent of affected soil and potential <br /> groundwater contamination, and determine the direction of groundwater flow beneath the <br /> site The project background, procedures, findings, and conclusions are presented in the <br /> fallowing sections <br /> I2.0 PROJECT BACKGROUND <br /> 2.1 Land Use <br /> The site is located in a flat commercial area in central Stockton, on the northeast corner of <br /> the intersection Grant Street and Miner Avenue (Figure 1) The site is operated by Larry's <br /> Auto Repair The property is occupied by a single building, attached canopy and parking <br /> area <br /> 2.2 Underground Storage Tank Removals <br /> On April 24, 1987, a 1,000-gallon gasoline underground storage tank (UST) was removed <br /> from the northwest side of the property (Tank A). A soil sample collected from beneath <br /> the former tank contained elevated levels of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes <br /> (BTE&X) <br /> Two additional 1,000-gallon tanks (Tank B and C) were removed from the southern portion <br /> of the property on May 25, 1990 by Thorpe Oil Company. Tank B contained diesel fuel and <br /> Tank C contained leaded gasoline, The Iocations of the former tanks are presented on <br /> Figure 2 <br /> An initial subsurface assessment was performed below Tank A by WaterWork Corporation <br /> One soil boring was advanced to a depth of approximately 35 feet below ground surface <br /> (bgs) near the area of highest soil contamination detected during the tank removal <br /> C-1-s-1Au&1 s..—101 <br /> lsrry r Auto Repair QtE/L9ULl7 3 <br /> r <br />
