03 May 2000
' AGE-NC Project No 95-0184
' elevation and flow direction Measurable free product was not encountered at the site dunng the
February 2000 monitonng event
' A ground water depression was detected near VW-3 The inferred ground water flow direction in
February 2000 was easterly with a gradient of approximately 0 006 ft/ft (Figure 3)
1 1
3 2 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
' TPH-g was detected in all sampled wells at concentrations ranging from 220 parts per billion (ppb,
reported as micrograms per liter,,ug/l) in MW-7 to 170,000 ppb in VW-513 TPH-d was detected in
' the sample from MW-4 at a concentration of 7,300 ppb
Benzene was also detected in all wells sampled at concentrations ranging fi om 4 4 ppb in MW-7 to
30,000 ppb in VW-3 The other BTEX compounds were detected at concentrations ranging from 2 3
ppb of ethylbenzene in MW-7 to 51,000 ppb of toluene in VW-5B
TBA was detected in the sample from MW-3 at a concentration of 17 ppb Other fuel oxygenates
were not detected during the February 2000 monitonng event 1,2-Di chloroethane (DCA) was
detected in wells MW-3, MW-7 and VW-2B at concentrations of 2 1 ppb, 1 4 ppb and 1,300 ppb,
' respectively Nine additional constituents were detected by EPA Method 8260 at concentrations as
high as 3,900 ppb (1,2,4-tnmethylbenzene, VW-4)
' Analytical results are summanzed on Tables 2 and 3 The laboratory report (MAI sample Nos
31572-31580) and chain-of-custody forms are included in Appendix B
4.0 DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS
Based upon data collected from the site, AGE concludes the following
' • Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in each well sampled, at concentrations as high as
170,000 ppb No free product was measured during this sampling event, however, the
majonty of the well screens are drowned and are not likely to produce direct evidence of free
' product
• TBA was detected in the sample collected from MW-3 at a concentration of 17 ppb Other
' oxygenates were not detected dunng the Februaiy 2000 monitoring event,
• Ground water levels are as high as 23 6 feet above the screened interval The hydrocarbon
concentrations detected in these `drowned' wells may not be representative of shallower
Advanced Gl1)En%Lronminta1 Inc
