Paramount, California, and analyzed for the following constituents
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel (TPH-g and TPH-d,
respectively) in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified, and
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) and the fuel additives methyl
tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), dl-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE),
tertiary-amyl methyl ether(TAME),tertiary-butyl alcohol(TBA), 1,2-dibromoethane(EDB)
and 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) in accordance with EPA Method 8260B
All rinseate generated during drilling activities was containerized in properly labeled,DOT-approved
55-gallon drums and stored on-site in an area lacking public access Twinned soil borings were
' backfilled over their entire depths with a portland cement grout mix
' 3.0. FINDINGS
Soil descriptions from the computer-generated CPT lithologic logs were integrated with previous
subsurface soil descriptions to construct the subsurface geologic model, cross sections A-A', B-B',
C-C', and D-D' were constructed to depict the general lithology beneath the site (Figures 3
through 6, respectively) The hydrocarbon impact to ground water and soil was quantified by
' laboratory analysis of the ground water and soil samples
' 31 STRATIGRAPHY
' Generally, silt, clay, clayey silt, silty clay, sandy silt, silty sand, and sand were encountered from
5 feet bsg to approximately 100 feet bsg,one soil sample, collected at 60 ft bsg in boring CPT-7,was
described as a greenish-brown coarse sand A distinctive interval consisting primarily of sand, silty
' sand, sandy silt, and gravelly sand, as well as some silty clay, clayey silt, and silt, was identified at
depths between approximately 100 feet and 140 feet bsg From 140 feet bsg to the total depths of the
bonngs clayey silt, silty clay, silt, cemented sand, sand, silty sand, sandy silt, and gravelly sand were
' identified, one soil sample, collected at 155 feet in CPT-8, was described as a dark gray sandy silt
' 3 2 HYDROGEOLOGIC MODEL
A hydrogeologic, or hydrostratigraphic, unit(HU) is defined as a body of rock or sediment that has
' hydrogeologic characteristics (i e hydraulic conductivity, pore pressure, etc ) that make it distinct
from surrounding bodies of rock or sediment(Sanders, 1998),or a part of a body of rock that forms
