(CRC) stated in the
groundwater section "that water samples should be analyzed for petroleum hydrocarbons as
gasoline". This was in error. The groundwater will be analyzed for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons
(TPHs) as hydraulic fluid. A sample of the hydraulic fluid within the elevator shaft pit area was
taken and has been used as a standard.for the analysis. The Modified 8015 Method as hydraulic
fluid covers a wide hydrocarbon spectrum C-10 to C-50 range, The analysis is being run at the
Curtis &Tompkins laboratory in Berkeley. Attached are three chromatograms on one page showing
two soil sample runs and the collected hydraulic fluid sample for comparison. Additionally, a
rentention time standard showing a range from C-10 to C-50 and the collected hydraulic fluid
sample standard at the same scale for comparison is also included.
CRC has used Modified Method 8015 as hydraulic fluid on all previous groundwater samples and
recent samples taken within the elevator shaft area, and would like to continue to use-this method.
Should you have any questions or if I can be of any help, please feel free to contact me at (714)
440-7700.
Yours truly,
Y
CRC ENVIRONMENTAL RISK NT, INC.
Y
—
TREVOR Q.SANTO H)
or D.
