The site locata°,on is shown in <br /> Figure 1. <br /> 1.1 Purp ag-ODd-kappa <br /> The investigative work completed at this site was performed <br /> in order to: (1) address the concerns o San Joaquin County <br /> Environmental Health Division (SJCEHD) and the California <br /> Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region <br /> (CVRWQCB) ; (2) assess the nature and extent of hydrocarbon <br /> contamination in the subsurface soils and ground water; (3) <br /> develop an appropriate course of action for soil excavation <br /> y and disposal; and (4) develop an appropriate course of action <br /> for additional ground water investigation or remediation, if <br /> warranted. <br /> The scope of the preliminary investigative work included the <br /> performance of the following tasks: <br /> o Drill and sample 48 exploratory soil borings in a <br /> grid pattern to characterize hydrocarbon <br /> concentrations in situ. <br /> o Establish offsite disposal facility requirements for <br /> proper disposal of the excavated soil. <br /> = o Coordinate and supervise the excavation and <br /> engineered backfilling of soil at the site. <br /> o Supervise the installation of four monitoring wells <br /> for use in the investigation of potential hydrocarbon <br /> impact on local ground water. <br /> o Prepare a technical report P presenting the findings, _ ___ <br /> results, and-recommendations of-the study. _ - <br /> 1.2 Site Depc <br /> "3 The former Mobil. Oil Bulk Terminal is presently a fenced, <br /> vacant -lot, located on thesouth side of East .Grantline Road <br /> at an elevation of approximately 33 feet above mean sea level <br /> ii (NGVD-1429) . Adjacent properties are either vacant or <br /> commercial and industrial developments. <br /> _ Mobil Oil. Corporation abandoned the former bulk storage and <br /> distribution plant in. 1988.
