San Joaquin County Public Health Services,Environmental Health
Division (PHS/EHD) has completed review of this report and has the following comments for your
consideration.
During this phase of the investigation soil contamination was encountered during the drilling of the on-site
monitoringlextraction well,AW-9. Soil contamination was not encountered during the drilling of off-site
soil borings, B-11, B-12, B-13, B-14, and B-15. Groundwater contamination beneath the site is
documented as evidenced by analytical results from monitoring wells AW-3 and AW-9. Off-site
groundwater contamination was not indicated during recent sampling,February 21, 1992, April 7, 1992 and
April 24, 1992.
While the "Supplemental Site Investigation" report described the recent investigation and included
conclusions summarizing analytical results, it failed to include recommendations. Recommendations are
recognized as an essential component of reports and are used to further evaluate the site. As submitted
the "Supplemental Site Investigation" is incomplete. Please submit recommendations as an addendum to
this report by August 13, 1992.
Periodic extractions of contaminated groundwater from monitoring wells,AW-3 and AW-9, began March
26, 1992 and continue on a regular basis. The site has been posted to indicate the use of this remedial
action. Please include disposal records and volumes extracted with quarterly reports.
I€you have any comments, questions, or to schedule a site inspection, please contact Mary Meat's, RENS,
of my staff at (249) 468-0337.
Jogi Khanna„Mb., M.P.H.
Health Obi
/Laurie A.
