i
Mr. David Noe -2- May 5, 1989
Mobil Oil Corporation
w
Comment No. 2 •
KEI proposes to install five (4" diameter) monitoring wells
in order to verify the ground water impact. The proposed
work plan is attached. _
Comment No. 3:
well development information has been documented in the
Field Activity notes. However, as recommended, well
development information will be recorded on a form which
will include the well number, the method of development,
depth to water, flow rates, total flow, field water quality
measurements (Ec, pH, temp. ) and other observations. A
copy of the well development is attached.
The new proposed monitoring wells will be developed by
pumping, surging and/or bailing to remove finer particles
near the well screen and improve hydraulic communication
with the surrounding formation. Water clarity, pH, " F, t
temperature, specific conductance and volume extracted will r°'
be measured during development. Development will terminate -,,-,, ., .N
when the well visually produces little or no sediment and
water-quality indicators measured during development and
sampling stabilize. All water will be stored in temporary
holding tanks pending receipt of the water-quality results.
The new wells will be sampled after at least four well
casing volumes have been withdrawn from each well or, if
the water levels recover slowly after purging, after water-
level recovery. Samples will be collected using a Teflon
bailer. The bailer will be cleaned with laboratory-grade
detergent followed by a deionized water rinse between each
sampling. Samples will be decanted from the bailer into 40
ml. VOA vials with Teflon-lined screw caps and stored in a
chilled cooler for delivery to the laboratory.
Comment No. 4
KEI will resample monitoring wells E1 to E3 if they still
exist, per RWQCB's request. , ' ,{ =r-
II. PRELIMINARY REPORT REQUESTED INFORMATION
It is our understanding that Items 1 and 2 described in
Page 2 of the RWQCB letter dated April 17, 1989 will be
provided by the Mobil Oil Corporation.
