GEOMATRIX
off-site disposal by Sturgeon and Son, Inc., of Richmond, California, who is contracted directly
with ChevronTexaco.
The groundwater samples were labeled and placed in an ice-cooled chest immediately after
collection and transported to Friedman&Bruya, Inc., of Seattle, Washington, under chain-of-
custody procedures. The groundwater samples were analyzed for the following constituents in
' accordance with the MRP:
' • total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPHg) analyzed using
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) Method 8015M;
' • total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as diesel (TPHd) analyzed using U.S. EPA
Method 8015M after silica-gel preparation using U.S. EPA Method 3630M; and
' • benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes (collectively referred to as BTEX) analyzed
using U.S. EPA Method 8021.
The groundwater samples were also analyzed for the following constituents as requested by the
RWQCB in their July 18, 2000, letter to ChevronTexaco:
• TPHd analyzed using U.S. EPA Method 8015M (without silica-gel preparation
procedure); and
' • Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) using U.S. EPA Method 8270C SIM.
Groundwater samples were also analyzed for inorganic parameters for evaluation of intrinsic
' bioremediation. A discussion of intrinsic bioremediation parameters is presented in Section 3.0
and Appendix B.
2.2 GROUNDWATER FLOW AND DIRECTION
Groundwater level measurements are included in Table 1 and summarized on Figure 2.
Groundwater elevations in the wells during this monitoring period fluctuated a maximum of
about 0.1 foot compared to those measured during the previous monitoring event.
' Groundwater elevations calculated from the well measurements indicate an easterly horizontal
gradient(Figure 2). This horizontal groundwater flow direction is consistent with previous
monitoring results, which have varied between easterly and northeasterly.
2.3 GROUNDWATER ANALYTICAL RESULTS
• No sheen or measurable separate-phase petroleum was present in the wells at the time ground-
water samples were collected. A summary of recent and historical analytical results of
1:\PRO]ECI12000s12463WOCUMEN'2463 12-02 spt.dm 3
