v
Wendy L. Cohen -2- 23 September 1993
On 14 June 1991, we received a work plan written by WGR for Chevron Pipe Line Company,
proposing three additional soil borings to be completed as monitoring wells. The purpose of this
work was to define the vertical and lateral extent of fuel hydrocarbons that may be present north and
downgradient of monitor wells MW-6, MW-7 and MW-8. I do not know if this work was ever
done.
In a 24 September 1991 letter from Ms. Antonia Vorster to Mr. Douglas Christian at Chevron Pipe
Line Company, she explained that Chevron should proceed with the site cleanup on a self-directed . --
basis and that because of severe staff and funding shortfalls, the Board would be unable to continue
to provide technical oversight of the cleanup. _
On 27 July 1993, I called Mr. Christian to determine the current status of the site. Mr. Christian
said nothing has been done since 1991. He said the original leak had been caused by another party
drilling into their pipeline, and the issue has been in court the past couple of years. He also stated
the case has recently been resolved, and they would again begin workon the site.
DFJ:gs
w-
