l-fieofogicaf7echnres Znc. .J Page 4
Former Moresco Property-IRAP
Project No. 251.3
April 8, 1997
• Once a month sample collection of influent and effluent samples for analytical
evaluation.
Note: This monitoring schedule is required by S.IVUAPCD.
LO Inspection events will include monitoring all performance functions of the treatment system
and measuring and recording air flow, temperature, and screening the influent air with an
organic vapor meter (Thermo Environmental Instruments Model 580B with a 10.2 eV
,r photoionization lamp, calibrated to factory specification with a 100 ppm concentration of
isobutylene gas).
A log will be maintained on site that will list cumulative operating hours, OVM monitoring
data, regeneration events, and an estimate of the amount of hydrocarbons removed per day.
We expect to achieve a significant reduction of gasoline from the soil in a 6 to 8 month
.. period of operation.
3.0 ASSESSMENT OF REMEDIAL EFFECTIVENESS
Because this interim remediation is designed primarily to achieve source reduction at the
depth of the highest contamination near the point of release it is expected that the existing
+- network of wells may not affect all impacted areas. That is anticipated since the goal is
partial remediation and not complete removal.
,r Regular influent emissions testing will monitor the attenuation of volatile organic compounds
remaining in the ground and a radial influence test will monitor the effectiveness of the
remedial efforts.
3.1 Radial Influence Test
Radial influence testing can provide valuable information regarding system operation.
During the influence test the air-recharge wells are capped with an airtight cap fitted with a
sampling port. Vacuum gauges are attached to the ports while the treatment system is in
operation. The air-recharge wells are opened and closed in different combinations in order to
determine which combination produces the largest radius of influence and best cross site
vapor flow.
3.2 Removal Volumes
OVM data and air flow rates will be tracked during the operation of the treatment unit.
Calculations will be made to determine the volumes of gasoline removed and volume still left
Lo in the soil. Initial mass balance calculations show approximately 1,675 gallons of gasoline in
the soil.
4.0 SCHEDULE & REPORTING
Geological Technics Inc. anticipates beginning work within 30 days of the approval of this
• work plan. A report detailing well installation, analytical data and the radial influence testing
will be submitted upon completion of the radial influence test. Monthly transmittal letters
