April 8, 1997 Interim Remedial Action Plan, for the Former Moresco Property,
16965 Gawne Road, Stockton,California. This addendum addmsscs the oor=ns you expmessecl
in your fax dated April 11, 1997 with regards to sail remediation by vapor extraction.
1.0 Pere Volumes and Pore Volume Exchange Rates
fore Volume
We estimated pore volume in the ares around the proposed vapor exhwdon wetl at 50,893 f.
Volume=(g)(r)(b)(n)
• r(radius)=30 feet, distance from the extraction well to the farthest recharge well.
• b(thickness)=45 feet.
• n(Porosity)=40%,rangcd from.36 to 49%.
Pore Volume Expb4ogelteft
The ThemW Oxidizer (TQ) is equipped with a blower rated of 250 SUM which is the
equivalent of 360,000 cubic feet per day. This volume is 7 times greater then the requested
exchange rate of 1rm volume per day. However, past experience with vapor extraction
sys-terns equipped with TO units has shown that typically for the first several weeks it is not
possible to run the system at 100% extraction from the subsurface because of the anoxic
conditions in the subsurface. The system mast first be.run at partial extraction until:
1. Enough oxygen is added to the subsurface through the passive recharge wells to allow
for a complete burrs in.the TO.
2. The extzemely high concentrations of gasoline vapor have been removed to allow the
TO to he run at full capacity with out over heating.
