GwkwicdTechnics Inc. Page 4
McGranahan(Gawne Road)
Project No.251.2
February 9,1996
specific subsurface units. If it is determined that the soils impacted with petroleum
hydrocarbons are oxygen deficient which`would limit the natural biodegradation
process, then we would have the necessary evidence to support the need for at least
limited engineered controls to provide the necessary oxygen.
We propose to use the SimulProbe tool to gain this empirical information. This tool
is able to collect a discrete soil sample and at the same time and point, collect a
discrete soil gas sample. In this manner we can evaluate the actual oxygen
concentrations at specific intervals and correlate with the geology and geotechnical i
and chemical parameters. We can also use soil gas information (TPH-gasoline) to
- - ->eestima#e-the=mass-of-contaminant.in-the-vapor,phase._
1.4 Well Survey
In order to identify potential groundwater use receptors in the vicinity of the release
we propose to conduct a well survey. The survey will identify locations and
construction details for all wells in a 2;000 ft radius. We will conduct a visual
inspection in the area to locate any wells in the area. We will request information
regarding well records from the SJCPHSEHD and the State of California Department
of Water Resources (DWR).
1.5 General Health Risk Assessment
A general health risk assessment is proposed to identify potential receptors during
assessment or remedial activity. We intend to identify nearby potential preferential
migration pathways and potential recharge areas. The scope of the assessment will
include a comprehensive site inspection and accessing building department records i
for information pertaining to the on site septic system and below grade structures.
I'
E
