5 s
•
Soil samples were collected using new disposable plastic sleeves with Teflon tape and plastic
caps placed on the ends The soil samples were analyzed for TPH-gasoline, TPH-diesel,
TPH-motor oil, MTBE and BTEX compounds using EPA test methods 8015M and 8021B
Silica gel cleanup was performed on the shallow soil samples as described in Section 4 3 The
' soil sample analytical results are provided on Table 3 and in Appendix C
p Yt p pp
4.2.2 Groundwater Grab Sampling
' Twenty shallow groundwater grab samples were collected at 8 onsite locations and at 12 offsite
locations(Figure 3) The four deeper groundwater grab samples (TR-7, 14, 18, and 24) were
collected at depths between 12 5 and 19 feet Since water recovery was typically slow,
temporary screens were installed using either a Hydropunch" 1 75-inch diameter stainless steel
' filter screen system or a 1-inch diameter PVC slotted casing The screen type, interval, and the
groundwater level measurements are provided on Table 2 The two deeper groundwater grab
samples, TR-14 and TR-24, collected inside the direct-push Hydropunch®screen are indicative
of the deeper groundwater The other two deeper samples, TR-7 and TR-18, may have been
' influenced by the shallower groundwater since the diameter of the 1-inch PVC pipe screen was
smaller than the diameter of the borehole
Sample collection was achieved by using disposable tubing equipped with a check-valve or a
' new disposable bailer Visual observations made during sampling included documenting the
presence of hydrocarbon sheen and identifying any unusual odors The groundwater grab
samples were tested for TPH-jet fuel, TPH-gasoline, TPH-diesel, TPH-motor oil, BTEX, and
MTBE compounds using EPA test methods 8015M and 8021B Samples were tested for
TPH jet fuel to evaluate whether the Chevron pipeline may have leaked The groundwater grab
sample analytical results are provided on Table 4 and in Appendix C
' 4.3 Quality Assurance/Quality Control
. Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) measures were taken to confirm the integrity of the
' field and laboratory data generated during the monitoring program Field QA/QC measures
Field lnva agatwn Report 10 8 December 2003
' TREADWELL&ROLLO,INC
