Pacific Gas and Electric Company Stockton Division non Girard
4040 West Lane Manager
P.O.Box 930
Stockton,CA 95201
209!942 1440
January 3, 1989
` Mr. Robert A. Evans
Area Engineer
California Regional Water Quality
Control Board
Central Valley Region
3443 Routier Road
Sacramento, CA 95827-3098
Dear Mr. Evans:
Subject: PG&E's Tracy Service Center Underground
Tank Investigation, Tracy, California
This letter is to inform the California Regional Water Quality
Control Board - Central Valley Region that PG&E plans to submit a
report to your office on January 20, 1989, presenting the results
and interpretation of the results concerning the underground tank
investigation at PG&E's Tracy Service Center. The submittal date
was confirmed in the December 8, 1988, telephone conversation
between you and Robert C. Karfiol of PG&E's Environmental Services
Department.
During the underground tank investigation, PG&E installed six
monitoring wells in the vicinity of the former tank site. In
addition to these existing wells, PG&E had planned to install
wells on the adjoining PG&E substation property, just north of the
former tank site. However, due to the number of underground elec-
tric lines located at the substation, we have decided not to
install any wells there. If the water sampling data from the
existing wells warrants the installation of another well , we will
continue the process of obtaining permission to install and
monitor a well on our neighbor' s property to the north of the
substation. The report that we will submit in January will be
based on the sampling results from the original six wells.
Please fell free to call Mr. Karfiol at (415) 972-7095 if you have
any questions.
Sincerely,
JAN 61989
RCG:na ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
PERMIT/SERVICES
cc: Ms. Laurie Cottula
San Joaquin County Local 'Health District
I
