' Ms. Antonia Antonia Vorster Page 2 September 29, 1987
same time the petroleum constituents in the soil are remediated. The RWQCB
comments of June 16, 1987 request immediate removal of the tank in question.
The San Joaquin Local Health District (who we understood to be the lead agency
in this investigation) does not agree that removing the tank immediately is
absolutely necessary. I hope you can see our dilemma in working with two
agencies that have different priorities.
PGandE has been and will continue to be one of the leaders in environmental
awareness and hazardous materials management in the industrial sector.
Subsequently, PGandE places a great deal of importance on investigations such
as this one. Be assured that PGandE recognizes its corporate
responsibilities with regard to the Tracy Service Center investigation and
will continue to follow the action plan for a thorough, efficient and
practical solution to this problem.
If you have any questions or wish to discuss any of these matters in greater
detail , you may contact me at (209) 443-5568.
Sincerely,i ./_s41%
Michael A. Bennett
Environmental Coordinator
MAB/dk
cc: Laurie Cotulla
San Joaquin Local Health District
