Since the well/borehole will be partially excavated, the sealing material must be
modified to allow for no fracturing of the material.
I'm very busy now with two priorities that must go off today for Monday work.
please call me at (209) 468-3454 Monday at 8am to discuss this.
thanks
mike
From: Eytcheson, Brian K [mailto:Brian.K.Eytcheson@parsons.com]
Sent: Friday, August 19, 20119:13 AM
To: Mike Infurna [EH]
Subject: Well abandonment question, PG&E Tracy yard.
Hi Mike,
I'm taking over from Kristin Guthrie as Parsons'field team lead at the former PG&E Tracy MGP site. As
you probably know, we are planning remedial excavation at 6 areas of concern at the site. One of the
groundwater monitoring wells (TW-5) is within one of the excavation areas. It is anticipated that the
excavation in the area of well TW-5 will reach a depth of approximately 13 feet, which is a little more than
half the total depth of the well (25 feet). We were wondering if we could abandon the well via excavation
by shearing the casing and seal/sand pack materials off as we're digging, then pulling the remaining
casing from the bottom of the excavation? Any remaining void space would be backfilled with clean
imported fill as the excavation is backfilled and compacted.
8/22/2011
