ATTACHMENT B <br /> FIELD AND LABORATORY PROCEDURES <br /> Chevron 9-8632, 575 Grant Line Road, Tracy, CA <br /> • mately 15 feet of screen was placed in the bottom the shallow borings, and 5 feet of screen in <br /> the deep borings A grade of sand appropriate to the screen size was placed in the annular <br /> space across the entire screened interval, and extends approximately 2 feet above the top of <br /> the screen for each well A bentonite seal extends one to two feet above the sand pack The <br /> monitoring wells were completed with neat cement from the bentonite seal to ground surface <br /> The well casings were topped with a locking cap and the well heads are contained in <br /> watertight, traffic rated well boxes The boring logs show well construction details The <br /> wells were developed by GettIer-Ryan (G-R) as part of the second quarter 2002 monitonng <br /> and sampling event <br /> Soil Sampling for Stockpiled Soil <br /> Soil samples were collected by advancing a 2-inch diameter brass sample liner into the soil <br /> stockpile, after removing approximately 6-inches to 1-foot of surface material in the sample <br /> location One composite sample was collected per approximately 100 cubic yards of soil Soil <br /> samples for chemical analysis was retained in the brass liners, labeled, and capped with <br /> Teflon sheets and plastic end caps The samples were then sealed in zip-lock bags, placed on <br /> ice, and transported to the laboratory accompanied by the appropriate chain-of-custody <br /> documentation <br /> Laboratory Procedures for Soil and Groundwater Samples <br /> Selected soil and groundwater samples were analyzed for the presence of total petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPHg), total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as <br /> diesel (TPHd), and methanol using modified EPA Method 8015, and benzene, toluene, <br /> ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX), methyl tertiary butyl ether (MtBE), tertiary butanol (TBA), di- <br /> isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (EtBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), <br /> 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA), 1,2-dibromoethane (EDB), and ethanol by EPA Method 8260 <br /> Soil Cuttings and Rinsate Water <br /> Soil cuttings generated during drilling operations were temporarily stored onsite and covered <br /> with plastic sheeting pending characterization and disposal Soil cuttings were removed by <br /> Chevron's disposal contractor to an appropriate disposal facility Water generated dunng <br /> steam cleaning was temporarily stored in DOT-approved 55-gallon drums pending transport <br /> by Chevron's disposal contractor to an appropriate disposal or treatment facility <br />
