GRA YLAND ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTING SERVICES
October 16, 2003
022-370 OCT 2 1 2003
hN
Mr. Michael Walton
pER` IMHEALTH
SERVICES
Walton Engineering, Inc.
P.O. Box 1025
West Sacramento, California 95691
Subject: Underground Storage Tank and Fuel Dispenser Removal Report
Bonfare Market, 15 Grant Line Road, Tracy, California
Dear Mr. Walton:
At your request,a registered geologist from Grayland Environmental(Grayland)arrived at Bonfare
Market(site)located at 15 Grant Line Road in Tracy, California, on September 12, 2003,to assist
with the removal of one underground storage tank and with fuel dispenser and product line
replacement work. The storage tank removal and underground fuel system renovation work was
conducted by Walton Engineering, Inc., of West Sacramento, California. The purpose of our work
was to evaluate the possibility that soil beneath an underground waste oil storage tank and beneath
five former gasoline dispensers, including four underground product line locations, had become
contaminated with petroleum-based fuel hydrocarbons, as a result of the operation of the
underground storage tank and/or fuel dispensing system at the site. The objective of our work was
to collect a soil sample from beneath the former underground storage tank, each fuel dispenser and
product line location for chemical analysis at an environmental laboratory. The soil sample collection
work was directed and supervised by an Environmental Health Specialist from San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department(SJCEHD).
SITE DESCRIPTION
The site was situated at the northeastern corner of Holly Drive and Grant-Line Road in Tracy,
California (Figure 1). At the time of our subsurface soil investigation, the site was occupied by
Bonfare Market, an active fuel dispensing station and convenience store. The approximate 2,400-
square-foot, concrete building at the site, was situated near the northern end of the site(Figure 2).
Site operations included the use of three underground gasoline storage tanks, which at the time of
our investigation, were partially exposed for system renovation; and one underground waste oil
storage tank, which was unearthed and prepared for removal(T1 on Figure 2). The single concrete
fuel dispenser island contained five dispensers and was situated sub-parallel to Grant Line Road near
the southern end of the site (Figure 2). The surface of the site was covered predominantly with
asphaltic-concrete,while the partially removed storage tank pad and drive slab surrounding the fuel
dispenser island were made of concrete.
1807 Valdora Street Davis, California 95616 (530) 756-1441
Grayland 022-370.fdr 1 Odober 16,2003
