v
ATC
i-+ ASSOCIATES I N C .
..+ depth of approximately 6.3 feet bgs and was not sampled. MW-4 was not sampled due to the presence of
approximately 0.75 inches of free product.
On February 17, 1993, Parker collected groundwater samples from MW-1 through MW-4. According to
Parker's Groundwater Monitoring Report dated February 24, 1993, a cup filled with dirt was lodged in the
well casing of MW-2. The cup was forced to the bottom of the well to allow for groundwater sampling.
Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in groundwater samples collected from MW-1 through MW-4. The
groundwater flow direction was reported to be to the southeast.
On February 26, 1993, Parker advanced seven soil borings (BH-1 through BH-7). Soil samples were
`r collected from each boring and a groundwater sample was collected from each boring except BH-7.
Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in soil samples collected from all the borings except BH-1 and BH-3.
Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in all of the groundwater samples. Water level measurements
collected at the site on March 2, 1993 indicated the groundwater flow direction was to the southeast. Refer
to Parker's Interim Report on Subsurface Investigation Work at Cheaper! #37 for more details.
Quarterly groundwater monitoring was conducted by Parker on August 9 and November 30, 1993.
According to quarterly groundwater monitoring reports prepared by Parker, petroleum hydrocarbons were
detected in groundwater samples collected from MW-1 and MW-4 on both occasions. The groundwater flow
6. direction was reported to be to the north on August 9, 1993, and to the northeast on November 30, 1993.
From July to October 1995,Parker conducted subsurface investigation activities that included installing four
monitoring wells (MW-5 through MW-8) and advancing 14 hand augered soil borings (B-8 through B-21).
Borings B-15 through B-21 were advanced off-site to the west, southwest, and south. Groundwater was
encountered at approximately 6.5 feet bgs. Soil and groundwater samples were collected from B-8, B-10
v through B-18, B-20, B-21, and MW-5 through MW-7. A groundwater sample was also collected from MW-
8. Pet oleum hydrocarbons were detected in all of the soil samples except for the samples collected from
1 MW through MW-7, B-14 located east of the former UST location, and B-20 and B-21 located off-site to
J 101 the southwest and south, respectively. Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in the groundwater samples
I except for the samples collected from B-14, B-20, B-21, MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, MW-6, and MW-7. MW-4
was not sampled due to the presence of approximately 0.02 inches of free product. The reported
groundwater flow direction on September 25, 1995 was approximately due north. Refer to the report
prepared by Parker titled Environmental Site Investigation Methods and Findings: Drilling of Soil Borings,
Drilling and Installation of Groundwater Monitoring Wells Collection and Analyses of Soil and
Groundwater Samples, dated November .17, 1995 for more information.
Subsequent quarterly monitoring conduct by Parker indicated a trend of reduced petroleum hydrocarbon
concentrations detected in groundwater samples collected from the monitoring wells. According to Parker's
ti... Groundwater Monitoring Report, dated February 25, 2000, petroleum hydrocarbons were not detected in
any of the groundwater samples collected from MW-1 through MW-8 on February 3,2000.
Periodic groundwater.monitoring at the site was conducted by H20GEOL A Groundwater Consultancy
(HzOGEOL) from &&Verb`L000 to September 2003. According to reports prepared by H2OGEOL,
A petroleum
hydrocarbons
aiondetected
rxeight groundwater
monitoring wells n64Z o'2000and groundwater
2001. Petroleum hdrocabons ere detected in
groundwater samples collected from all eight groundwater monitoring wells, except the samples collected
from MW-3 and MW-6 in May 2001, and MW-2 and MW-3 in August and November 2001.
