(ATC) has prepared this workplan in response to a directive provided by
the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD)through correspondence dated
January 1.0, 2012.. In the letter, the San Joaquin County EHD was concerned with elevated soil
gas concentrations and the potential risk to human health and the environment. In response,
ATC proposes to collect an indoor air sample to evaluate the quality of indoor air and its
potential impact on site workers.
SITE LOCATION
The site is located at 1.5 East Grant Line Road in Tracy, California, as shown on Figure 1.
Principal land use in the vicinity of the site consists of mixed residential and commercial
purposes. The site is currently occupied by the Bonfare Market, a convenience store with a.retail
fuel station. A site plan is provided as Figure 2.
ENVIRONMENTAL HISTORY
Two 10,000-gallon underground storage tanks (USTs)were excavated and removed from the site
on March 3, 1988. One UST was used to store leaded gasoline and the other was used to store
unleaded gasoline. Groundwater was encountered in the UST excavation at approximately seven
feet below ground surface (bgs). Soil samples were not collected but two groundwater samples
were collected from within the excavation pit. Laboratory results indicated the groundwater had
been impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons. Approximately 100 cubic yards of soil were
excavated when the USTs were removed.
Three groundwater monitoring wells (.MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3) were installed at the site on
March 29 and 30, 1988. .Initial groundwater samples collected from these wells did not contain
detectable concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons. A sensitive receptor survey was
conducted within a 2,000-foot radius of the site.
S:\Environmental\25847\37 Tracy\Reports\Workplans IA Wkpin.doc I ATC Associates Inc.
a
