(ATC) has prepared this workplan to conduct a soil gas study at the above P
referenced site. The purpose of the soil gas study is to evaluate the potential for vapor intrusion
hazards from petroleum hydrocarbon impacted soil and/or groundwater beneath the site with respect f
to nearby structures. This work was directed by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health .-
Department(SJCEHD)through correspondence dated April 16, 2010.
i
The scope of work includes advancing five.,,soil borings, completing these borings as temporary soil .
gas sampling points; geotechnical analyses of selected soil samples; chemical.analyses_of soil gas
samples; comparing soil gas analytical results to„the California Human Health Screening Levels
(CHHSLs) as provided by the California Environmental Protection Agency (CAL EPA) and the
Environmental Screening Levels (ESLs) as provided by the California Regional Water Quality
Control Board (RWQCB) San Francisco Bay Region; and preparing a summary report detailing site
activities. The scope of work is described in detail in the following paragraphs.
SITE LOCATION
The site is located at 15 East Grant Line Road in Tracy, California, as shown on Figure 1. Principal
land use in the vicinity of the site consists of mixed residential and commercial purposes. The site is
currently occupied by the Bonfare Market,a convenience store with a retail fuel station. A site plan
is provided as Figure 2.
BACKGROUND - .I
' 1
Two 10,000-gallon underground storage tanks (USTs) were.excavated and removed from the site on
March 3, 1988. One UST was used to store leaded gasoline and the other was used to store unleaded
gasoline. Groundwater was encountered in the UST excavation at approximately seven feet.below Jr
ground surface (bgs). Soil samples were not collected but two groundwater samples were collected
from within the excavation pit. Laboratory results indicated the groundwater had been impacted by
petroleum hydrocarbons. Approximately 100 cubic yards of soil were excavated when the USTs
were removed.
S:\Environmental\2584M8\Workplans\201 May SGS.doc 1
P Y
I
