Box 0388 <br /> Stockton, CA 95201-0388 <br /> RE: Proposed Ex-Situ Bioremediation of Previously <br /> Excavated Soil at the Reeve's Exxon Site, 2360 East <br /> Street, Tracy, CA <br /> Dear Mr. Infurna: <br /> As previously discussed, personally in our correspondence <br /> of August 11, 1994, EPM Technologies wishes to move <br /> approximately 40 cubic yards of previously excavated, <br /> hydrocarbon contaminated soil from the Pestana Trust <br /> property at 275 Grant Line Road, Tracy across the <br /> intersection of Grant Line and East Streets to 2360 East <br /> Street. Moving the soil will permit us to treat it at a <br /> location further from the apartment buildings located on <br /> properties contiguous to the 275 Grant Line site. <br /> Source of the Contaminated Soil and Determination of the <br /> Type and Level of Contamination <br /> As you may recall , the subject soil was excavated on <br /> February 22 , 1994 during exploratory trenching at 275 Grant <br /> Line Road. Two trenches were dug. One trench was dug near <br /> the northwest corner of the on-site building in an effort <br /> to locate an apparent source of hydrocarbon contamination <br /> detected during the preparation of contaminant contours <br /> developed as a result of the placement of soil borings <br /> during October of 1993 . The second trench was excavated <br /> along the western boundary of the site in an effort to <br /> ascertain whether contaminants had migrated onto contiguous <br /> property. <br /> Discrete soil samples were acquired from the boundaries of <br /> both trenches following the removal of a total of approxi- <br /> mately 40 cubic yards. Much of the soil excavated from the <br />
