2.3 Monitoring Well Installation
In September 1988, three groundwater monitoring wells were installed at the site by
Klienfelder. Laboratory results of soil samples collected during the installation of
monitoring well MW-3 indicated that hydrocarbon impacted soil was present.
After installation, a groundwater sample was collected from each well. Low concentrations
of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH as gasoline), xylenes and ethylenedibromide (EDB)
were detected ill the sample from MW-3. Coliform was also detected in samples from each
well. No other impacted soil or groundwater was encountered during this investigation.
2.4 Groundwater Depth and Gradient
According to data obtained from the oil-site nionitorinyg,Nvells, depth to groundwater is
between 8 and 10 feet below StlrfaCe grade (bsg). Groundwater flow direction at the site
is northerly, with a gradient of 0.263 percent. Tilts flow direction is consistent with local and
regional flow directions.
2.5 Soil Borings
In February 1995, two soil borings were drilled at the site. Soil samples collected from the
borings indicated that impacted soil was present in the arta near the former dispelhser
Island. Ont' grab gl"ollladwatt:'r sample was also collected from each boring-, analytical results
of the groundwater samples indicated that impacted groundwater was present near the
dispenser islands and at the north portion of the property, towards Grant Line Road.
3.0 SCOPE OF NVORK
AGI_ proposes to excavate impacted soil from the former dispenser- :lira, between Tank
Excavations A and B, Approximately 100 cubic yardk of impacted soil xvill be excavated
from the area. Excavation \vlll be monitored and directed easing a ph0t0-i0111Zat1loll detector.
Excavated soil Nvill be stockpiled on plastic sllee.tnlg near the soutlicast corner of the site.
Soil samples will be collected adutlg e,tell side%ajtll trld, 11, necessarv, tronl the floor of the
'oil to a depth of appromillateiy S feet; therefore,
excavation. \ 'e. anticipate exri\:it
groundwater will be encountered In the excavation. At the recItiest of the Sall Joaquin
County Public Heralth Services - Environmental I lealth Division (PI IS/El ID) a water sample
can be collected from the excavation.
After collection of soil samples, the excavation will be backfilled to the surface. with clean
fill dirt; the area x%,i11_ then be resurfaced with asphalt.
Hi 6-IL1,.,,.,,, 1-
