Unfortunately,the field technician for
MPDS misinterpreted your request on October 15, 1997,and completed the chain of custody for MtBE only, rather
than indicating the analyses were to be performed for oxygenates. Toscu had also verbally instructed MPDS to analyze
all groundwater samples for oxygenates by the 8260 method. We apologize for any inconvenience and any
miscommunication between the San Joaquin County,MPDS and Tosco.
We have contacted our primary consultant,GeoStrategies, and requested that they contact your office to schedule the
resampling of the groundwater monitoring wells for analysis of the oxygenates. Once the results are available, they will
be incorporated in the 4' Quarter monitor and sampling report as an addendum.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at(510)277-2311
Sincerely,
Edward C.Ralston
Project Manager
cc: James Munch,SWRCB
Tom Skok,Tosco
Greg Gurss,GSI
Erin Garner,PEG
Ron Schwab,Unocal
