4707 Pacific Ave
Page 2
Within the last quarterly status report, GeoStrategies included a summary of the
observed vacuum and the estimated radius of influence was depicted on Figure 2.
As you must be aware, Figure 2 included two vapor extraction wells, VW4. Please
correct this figure as only one VW4 exists. The radius of influence depends on
many factors relating to lateral and vertical permeability, the extent of soil
heterogeneity and the construction of the vapor extraction wells. In the annual
report, please provide a description of the field methodology used to estimate the
radius of influence and how the radius of influence is affected by soil
heterogeneity. You may wish to consider collecting soil samples for the purpose of
evaluating the progress of site remediation when equipment is mobilized to install
monitoring wells.
Also, tables that summarize the operation of the vapor extraction system should
clearly include information regarding the amount of time that the system is in
operation during a reporting period.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental
Health
Division n
Mary Meays, Senior REHS Margam Lagorio, REHS
Site Mitigation Unit Supervisor
MM\4707PAC
cc: Elizabeth Thayer, CVRWQCB
cc: Greg Gurss, GeoStrategies
