PHS/EHD
has prepared the following comments for your consideration.
The average groundwater depth, as monitored on April 25, 1996, was approximately 37
feet below ground surface, representing an approximate 5 feet rise, since the prior
monitoring event on January 24, 1996. The seasonal high groundwater measurement for
the area where the site is located, was reported in 1986 by San Joaquin County Flood
Control District, at approximately 30-35 feet below ground surface.
As PHS/EHD stated in correspondence dated March 27, 1996, additional monitoring wells
will be required to characterize the groundwater contamination, because the screened
intervals of the existing monitoring wells were then approximately 10 feet lower than the
depth that groundwater was first encountered.
A work plan to install the additional monitoring wells necessary to characterize the
groundwater beneath the site must be submitted by July 30, 1996. Along with the work
plan, please submit a permit application and $89 permit fee.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division p
Mary Meays, Senior REHS Margaret aC gorio, REHSU
Site Mitigation Unit Lead Senior
MM\4707PAC
cc: Elizabeth Thayer, CVRWQCB
cc: Greg Gurss, GeoStrategies
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
