Depending on progress made during drilling, it is possible
that the abandonment of the first soil boring may not occur on 9/10 but in the
morning of 9/11. I will keep you informed such as to provide you with as much
prior notice as possible.
The site inspection revealed increasingly moist and soft soil conditions towards
the center of the pond, which make the center presently inaccessible for
drilling equipment. Thus, the soil borings will be drilled towards the outer
perimeter of the pond, where the pond floor is firm enough to support drilling
equipment. This has been communicated to, and approved by Howard Hold of
the Regional Board.
The Annual Monitoring Report for 2002, the January-June 2003 Semi-Annual
Report, and an addendum to the Annual Monitoring Report for 2002 will be
mailed to you today.
Sincerely,
Till E.
