The program includes quarterly testing for depth to ground water, free product
thickness, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene, polynuclear aromatic compounds, various
speciated petroleum hydrocarbons, and lead. Please provide your comments on the draft MRP by
30 December 1994.
We have reviewed the 13 October 1994 site map submitted by your consultant, Geomatrix,
summarizing the results of soil and ground water sampling at the site, and your 8 November 1994
response to our 18 October 1994 comments on the Screening Health Risk Assessment work plan. In
your response you stated that you wish to proceed with sampling and disposal of the stockpiled and
drummed soil without sampling the trenches. In a recent telephone discussion with Martin Bloes of
your office, I verbally approved that request.
Your response to our request for further remedial investigation at the site, however, was not
adequate. As stated in our 18 October 1994 letter, a work plan is needed to define the lateral and
vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbons in the soil and ground water. Once sufficient sampling
data has been collected, you need to evaluate the potential threat to water quality if the soil is left in
place. The,new deadline for this work,.plan is 13 January 1994.
If you have stions, you may call me at (916) 255-3141.
Y1
HD.
