The plan includes
inspection of existing wells for integrity, measurement of ground water levels and free
product thickness, ground water sampling and analysis, and quarterly reporting of results.
As discussed in our 20 April 1994 meeting, the information obtained will be used to
evaluate the need for additional remedial investigation and cleanup at the site.
We hereby approve the monitoring plan on the condition that analysis of total
_. extractable hydrocarbons_further specifies the types of each hydrocarbon detected, such
as gasoline, diesel, kerosene, etc. In add>.ffon, when the well-De amination and first
quarter monitoring results are submitted, they should be accompanied with a proposal
for the installation of additional monitoring wells to define the lateral and vertical extent
of contamination at the site.
In your letter of 21 June 1994, you stated that you will be sending the work plan for soil
sampling and health risk assessment to the San Joaquin County Health Department.
Since the Board is lead agency for the site and evaluation of the results of soil sampling
is part of the overall remedial investigation at the site, the work plan should be
submitted to us with a copy to San Joaquin County.
