Before receiving a <br /> PHS/EHD corrective action directive and in order to receive3the SWRCB Clean up <br /> Fund Letter of Committment, you must make application to the State of <br /> California Water Resources Control Board's (SWRCB) "Petroleum Underground <br /> Storage TankiCleanup Fund" (Fund) . An application package for the Fund has <br /> been provided. <br /> The Fund wasfcreated pursuant to Chapter 6.75 of the California Health and <br /> Safety Code to help eligible owners and operators_ of petroleum underground <br /> storage tanks to: <br /> 1. Meet federal requirements .to demonstrate financial responsibility; . <br /> i! <br /> 2. Obtain reimbursement for costs of the cleanup of unauthorized <br /> releases of petroleum from USTs,,: and <br /> 3. Obtain reimbursement for damages awarded to third parties who are <br /> injured by petroleum releases. <br /> The maximum amount available from the Fund is $990,000 per occurrence. <br /> Claimants are responsible for the first $10,000 of eligible., costs. <br /> Applicationslimust be submitted to the SWRCB. Clean Up Fund by March 31, 1994 to <br /> undergo eligibility ranking for funding in the 1994-95 state fiscal budget <br /> year. All subsurface investigations and remedial actions must. be performed <br /> under a workplan approved by PHS/EHD: <br /> The Fund does not cover the costs incurred for the removal,.. repair, retrofit, <br /> or installation of USTs.
