6.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
E
The underground storage tank removal project at the Wal-Mart Store #2025 located in Tracy,
California involved tli'e removal of one 1,000,gallon capacity used oil tank. The tank and product
4i
piping were transported off-site by Dexanna`LTD and disposed of by.Erickson, Inc.
Based on review of 'soil analytical results, soil staining, and field observations, evidence of a
petroleum hydrocarbon release was encountered beneath the UST excavation at an approximate
depth of 9 feet below grade. The release appears to be the result of.a faulty oil/water separator
located in the basement of the TLE and adjacent to the UST excavation. The separator has been
repaired, and no future.releases are anticipated.- The DEH stated that additional corrective actions
will be required at the'site. Kleenco recommends that the DEH be contacted regarding assignment
of a remediation project manager to the site. After the project manager has been assigned,
Kleenco recommends;lthe preparation of a Site Characterization Work Plan and upon approval of
:a
the Work Plan by DEH, a site characterization investigation should be conducted at the site by the
;1
responsible party. Additional remediation, if any, should be evaluated based on the findings of
the site characterization.
ti
WAL-MART 42025
98182304.236 6-1.. TRACY,CALIFORNIA
