Clayton submitted a report titled "Soil.Excavation'and Aeration for Interland
Corporation", on October 23, 1990. After reviewing this.report, you requested the
.laboratory results of the soil sample collected by Mr. Mike Johnson, of Clayton on
August 17, 1990. This sample was collected from below an,area of stained soil near
the septic .tank which was removed. At.that time you were present to observe the
work activities and evaluate conditions with Mr.'Johnson.
According to my conversation with.Mr. Johnson and rimy review of his field notes,
Clayton documented the following conditions on August 17, 1990:
• Discolored (dark stained) soils were discovered near the soil/water interface
below the septic tank. At your.request, Mr. Torn Ramsey, of Fuel Oil
Polishing, (FOP) overexcavated the stained soil area to-a depth of about 13
feet below ground'-surface (bgs). After the the stained soil was excavated by
FOP, Mr. Johnson, collected a confirmation sample (IT-4'13T) at a depth of
about 13 feet bgs. Oil and grease was not detected (<10 ppm) in ,this sample.
Laboratory results are attached.
The lateraldistancebetween locations of soil samples ME-1 and IT-4'-BT was
less than 4 feet (Figure 3).
