i
Clayton
The following subsections describe the completion of tasks associated with this project
3 1 SOIL BOREHOLE CONSTRUCTION
Aqua Science Engineering, Inc of San Ramon, California, provided the borehole
installation services under subcontract to Clayton Figure 2 shows the locations of the
boreholes
On April 5, 1991, five boreholes were installed to a depth of approximately 9 feet
below ground surface with an 8-inch hollow-stem auger from a truck-mounted ng
Lithologic logs of the soil types underlying the site were maintained by Clayton
geologist, Richard Silva. Copies of these logs are presented in Appendix C Soil
samples were collected at approximately 4 and 9 feet below ground surface
The sod cuttings and sampling spoils generated by the drilling process were placed into
±ndividually labeled, DOT-approved 55-gallon drums and left onsite until proper
disposal can be determined based on laboratory analysis.
Aqua Science backfilled the boreholes with neat grout.
3.2 SEPTIC TANK CLASURE
Fuel Oil Polishing and Carl's Trenching Services from Sonoma, California, provided
the septic tank excavation and closure services under subcontract to Clayton Figure 2
shows the approximate location of the removed septic tank The original application
1 for sanitation permit wnth sketch map is included in Appendix D Septic tank #2 was
originally used by Grantline Station (a tavern), located at 8885 W Granthne Road
On April 25, 1991, we began field activities for the proper destruction of the septic
tank. Granite Construction was performing road construction work nearby. During
exploratory excavatio- to locate septic tank #2, a representative of Granite
Construction informed Clayton that they had destroyed the septic tank during recent
construction to widen MacArthur Drive. Fuel Oil Polishing excavated the area of the
sepac tank to confirm its destruction.
Mr. Gregory Olmera, San Joaquin County Pubhc Health Services, Environmental
` Health Specialist, observed field activity and stated that, based on the findings, the
septic tank issue could be officially closed
5
' 3.3 MONITORING WELL SAMPLING
Groundwater was sampled from monitoring well MW-3B on May 2, 1931 Water
{ sampling data sheets are presented in Appendix F
-2-
ssoo-ue
