Clayton <br /> E�IERIR�IF`[4l <br /> (I1\111I11i1\ <br /> Clayton completed excavation of apprommately 1650 cubic yards of soil and on-site <br /> aeration as summarized in our report, "Soil Excavation and Aeration for Interland <br /> Corporation" dated October 19, 1990 This report was submitted to the required <br /> regulatory agencies <br /> -� During excavation, a 500-gallon concrete septic tank was discovered Clayton <br /> obtained a permit for the removal of this tank The tank was removed on August 17, <br /> 1990. <br /> Monitoring well MW-3 was destroyed to apir-oximately 10 feet bgs during soil <br /> excavation activities. The well was previously installed to a depth of 25 feet bgs <br /> Approximately 15 feet of the well was covered with the backfillmg of the excavation <br /> pit. <br /> The San Joaquin County Public Health Services (SJCPHS) stated no further soil <br /> remediation was required at the site based on our findings, but requested additional <br /> groundwater monitoring and proper abandonment of monitoring well MW-3 and the <br /> -" domestic water well, as stated in their letter to you, dated November 1. 1990 <br /> (Appendix A). <br /> 30 <br /> .; Clayton commenced field activities for the installation and sampling of the additional <br /> monitoring well at the site on January 8, 1991. We properly abandoned monitoring <br /> 1 well MW-3 and the domestic water well on the same day. All work was performed in <br /> accordance with Clayton's Drilling- Well Construction. and Sampinlg Protocols, <br /> included in Appendix B <br /> The installation of monitoring well MW-3B and abandonment of the two wells were <br /> observed by Ms Eleanor Ratliff; San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> ,1 environmental health Inspector. <br /> i <br /> 1 f <br /> .• The following subsections describe the completion of each of the tasks outlined in <br /> Clayton's work proposal dated November 26, 1990 <br /> 31 SOIL BOREHOLE INSTALI ATION/MONITORING WELL <br /> CONSTRUCTION <br /> Before drilling began, a well construction application and work Flan was filed with <br /> SJCPHS Environmental Health Division. A copy of this application is included in <br /> Appendix C. Aqua Science Engineers was contracted to install the shallow <br /> groundwater well under the direct supervision of Clayton personnel <br /> MW-3B was installed at the southwest comer of the property and downgradient of the <br /> Y former excavation pit (Figure 2) The borehole was drilled to a depth of 20 feet bgs <br /> using a 10-112 inch hollow stem auger from a mobile truck-mounted drilling ng The <br /> borehole was converted into a monitoring well. <br /> l <br /> J r�w <br />
