Harding Lawson Associates
November 20, 1986 -
18040,001.03
San Joaquin Local Health District
601 E. Hazelton
P.O. Box 2009
Stockton, California
Attention: Ms. Laurie Co tulla
Ladies and Gentlemen:
Application for Well Permits
7-Eleven Store
455 West Grant Line Road
Tracy, California
0n behalf of 7-Eleven stores, Harding Lawson Associates (HLA)
requests the required well permits to install four monitoring wells
at 455 West Grant Line Road in Tracy, California. This 7--Eleven
store has three underground gasoline tanks, one of which has been
identified to have a leak and has been emptied. Relative to this
leak, 7-Eleven has issued an Underground Storage Tank Unauthorized
Release Report, dated November 5, 1986. The purpose of the four
monitoring wells is to help define the extent of the contamination.
We anticipate to begin drilling operations on November 21, 1986.
HLA intends to install four monitoring wells at the approximate
locations shown on the site plan attached. All borings/we11s will
be drilled using an 8-inch-diameter continuous flight hollow-stem
auger. Wells will consist of 2-inch-diameter PVC casing with
flush-mounted joints. The wells will be screened from the bottom
to approximately 5 feet below the ground surface but no less than
1 foot above the ground-water level. The specific construction
details for each well will be based on the results of the drilling
and sampling program. The following well construction standards,
in general, will be used:
Soil samples will be obtained approximately every 5 feet to
the maximum depth explored. All samples will be sealed in
brass tubes and the ends covered with aluminum foil and caps
taped on over the foil. Samples will be placed immediately
into an ice chest. The augers and sampling equipment will be
steam cleaned prior to starting each boring; the sampling
equipment will be washed in a solution of trisodium phosphate
and tap water and rinsed in distilled water between samples.
The soil samples obtained will be accompanied by a chain-of-
custody form, which will be turned over to a chemical
laboratory for testing.
Engineers 2430 Stanwell Dr Telephone Alaska Colorado Texas
Geologists& suite 110 415/687-9660 Arizona Hawaii
Geophysicists Concord,CA 94520 California Nevada
