Harding Lawson Associates
 f
I
May 23 1991
S
17060,024. 03
Southland Corporation '
5820 Stoneridge Mall Road
Pleasanton, California 94566
Attention: Mr. Walter Lubcke
C i L:
Gentlemen:
Partial Response to SJCPHS p
Letter. Dated May 3 , 1991 I
7-Eleven Convenience Store
455 West Grant Line Road
Tracy., California
This letter presents a partial response to' a letter of May 3, w
1991, by the San Joaquin County Public Health Services (SJCPHS) '
with respect to the remedial investigation being conducted by w
Harding Lawson Associates (HLA) at 455 West•. Grant Line Road in
Tracy, California. The SJCPHS letter contains seven comments,
followed by a request for quarterly groundwater monitoring and
reporting. The .letter also requests a final remediation plan
. that would be submitted for public notice.
We understand that° the Southland Corporation will respond to -
Comments One through Sik, and that HLA will' 'be authorized to .
perform quarterly groundwater monitoring and reporting for a one
year period beginning in June, .1991. This letter presents a i
rationale for delaying the presentation of a. final remediation r
plan until four quarters of groundwater monitoring data can be
obtained and analyzed.
I,
PROJECT STATUS
HLA has investigated soil and groundwater conditions at the 7
Eleven Store from November 1987through May° 1989, following an
underground tank leak. As part of the investigation, we
installed 15 monitoring wells on and immediately adjacent to the
site (Plate 1) . In March 1989, Well MW-7 was destroyed during
removal of underground tanks. The .otherlwells are believed to
be still in place.
. I:
Engineering and- 1355 Willow Way.
