Harding Lawson Aaseoiates
Within 1/4 mile of the site, there are a number of other facilities that
contain underground gasoline storage tanks. Of most concern are the following , . .
three facilities, at which unauthorized releases have recently been documented.
1, Directly across Grant Line Road from the 7-Eleven facility is an old
gasoline station, now operating as a motorcycle repair shop. Two
5 gasoline tanks and a waste oil tank were removed, and we understand
from Ms. Laurie Cottula of the SJLHD that at the time of removal,
free product was noted on the ground water within the excavation. To
our knowledge, no further work has been done at this site.
2. At the corner of Tracy Boulevard arid Grant Line Road, approximately
1/4 mile west of the 7-Eleven facility, a Mobil gas station recently
had an unauthorized product release. Underground storage tanks at
this facility.were replaced in November 1986. Kaprealian Engineer-
ing, Inc. installed four monitoring wells at the Mobil gas station
t3 and detected 320 parts per million (ppm) of total petroleum hydro-
carbon carbon (TPH) (as gasoline) in the ground water at their monitoring
well nearest the 7-Eleven facility. There has also been a history ofia
leakage from above groundstorage tanks at the facility. According
to inf oration supplied by the SJLHD, there are no clean-up or remedi-
ation actions currently in progress.
3. . Jus;: west a the. Mobil gas station a PG&E service yard has exper-
ienced several episodes of underground tank leaks since 1986. Spec-
ific details were not available, but according to SJLHD' officials,
there are currently seven to nine monitoring wells in place. Gaso-
line constituents have been identified in the ground water, and site
i characterization work is in progress.
Informaticn obtained f
r
rpm the State Department of Water Resources and from14
-
ka
the'City. of Tracy Utilities Department indicates .that five water wells are
within 1/4 mile of the site (see Plate 2 for locations). One of these, a
domestic well belonging to the City of Tracy, extends to a depth of greater
than :lOQO .feet. The remaining four wells extend deeper than 15Q feet and are
apparently used for irrigation only,
4'
