k.
March 19, 1992 Harding Lawson Associates
19060, 025 . 03
Mr. Bud Good
The Southland Corporation
Page 3
. calculations indicate a northeasterly hydraulic gradient, which
is consistent with previous data for the site.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
The pH of purged groundwater monitored in the field was
consistently between 6. 80 and 7. 88 . Conductivity measurements
ranged from 390 to 1, 600 uS/cm. Results of groundwater analyses
indicate increasing concentrations of benzene and total
+- petroleum hydrocarbons in MW-1, MW-8 , and MW-9 from the previous
quarter. Petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations in groundwater
from MW-10 appear to have stabilized. All of the remaining
wells had nondetectable concentrations of petroleum
hydrocarbons. The "zero line" of the TPH results is shown on
Plate 1. Detectable levels of fecal coliform were found in
groundwater samples from MW-1, MW-3 , MW-4 , and MW-6 through MW-
` 11.
In a letter dated December 10, 1991 from the SJCDPHS to the
+r# Southland Corporation, the SJCDPHS requested the following
activities take place during the fourth quarter:
„ • Stockpiled soil to the west of the store building be
sampled to verify that the soil is not contaminated
with petroleum hydrocarbons;
` 0 Repair the grout seals around the stove pipes of MW-
12, MW-13 , and MW-14 ;
+- a Submit a Draft Final Remediation Plan and Executive
Summary/Abstract.
Upon completion of groundwater sampling, the stockpile was split
into quadrants and a composite soil sample was collected into a
two inch by six inch stainless steel tube. The soil sample was
stored in a cooled ice chest and transported under chain-of-
custody to Superior Analytical. Results of this soil sample,
which are presented in the appendix, show non-detectable
' concentration for both BTEX and TPH as gas.
