r
4 . 0 AREA WELL SURVEY
ASE conducted an area well survey to locate water wells within a 2,000-
foot radius of the site. To locate these wells, ASE researched permit
records at the offices of the San Joaquin County PHS-EHD. ASE also
contacted the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) for
information in their records. The location of wells within 2,000-feet of
the site are shown on Figure 3. Information for each well such as the well
location, owner name and address, well type and year drilled are
tabulated in Table 1. A total of 31 water wells were located within 2000-
feet of the site. Of these wells, 26 are listed as monitoring wells, two are
listed as irrigation wells, two are listed as domestic wells and one is listed
as a destroyed municipal water supply well. Marie Gomez Farms owned
one of the irrigation wells and one of the domestic wells. Since there is
no farm currently located in the site vicinity, it is likely that these wells
are no longer in use and may have been destroyed. The other irrigation
and domestic wells are located cross-gradient of the site and it is highly
unlikely that either of these wells could be impacted from contamination
originating from the site. The municipal water supply well is located
upgradient of the site; however, based on a telephone conversation with
Mr. Steve Bayley, director of the City of Tracy Department of Public
Works, this well has been destroyed. A replacement well is currently
planned for this same location. DWR Water Well Drillers Reports for
several of the municipal, irrigation and domestic wells are presented in
Appendix B.
5.0 INSTALL ONE GROUNDWATER MONITORING WELL
5 . 1 Drilling Permit
Prior to drilling, ASE obtained a drilling permit from the San Joaquin
County PHS-EHD (Appendix Q. ASE also notified USA to have
undergroued public utilities in the vicinity of the site marked prior t o
drilling.
5 .2 Dull One Soil Boring_ for the Installation of a Gronndwatu
Monitoring WQ11
On August 14, 2001, Gregg Drilling of Martinez, California drilled soil
boring MW-6 at the site with a Mobile B-61 drill rig equipped with 8-inch
diameter hollow-stern augers (Figure 4). The drilling was directed by ASE
associate geologist Erik Paddleford. Monitoring well MW-6 was
subsequently constructed in this boring.
574 West Grant Line Road CAP — January 2002
-5-
