1
groundwater samples collected from boring CPT-2 at 37-feet bgs
contained 74 ppb TPH-G, 3.0 ppb benzene, 2.3 ppb toluene, 2.5 ppb ethyl
benzene, and 4.8 ppb total xylenes.
2-5 October 2000 Monitoring Well ,Installatiop.
On October 5, 2000, ASE installed monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-5
at the site (Figure 2). The soil sample collected from boring MW-1 at 6.0-
feet bgs contained 340 ppm TPH-G and 0.27 ppm ethyl benzene. The soil
sample collected from boring MW-2 at 5.5-feet bgs contained 5,400 p p m
TPH-G, 8.4 ppm benzene, 86 ppm toluene, 96 ppm ethyl benzene, 510
ppm total xylenes, and 4.6 ppm MTBE. The soil samples collected from
boring MW-4 at 5.5-feet bgs contained 500 ppm TPH-G, 0.95 p p m
benzene, 12 ppm ethyl benzene, 3.9 ppm total xylenes, and 1.6 p p m
MTBE. The soil samples collected from borings MW-1 at 19.0-feet bgs and
MW-2 at 16.0-feet bgs contained relatively low concentrations of BTEX
and MTBE. All other soil samples analyzed did not contain any
compounds over laboratory reporting limits. Groundwater samples
collected from monitoring well MW-1 contained 65 ppb MTBE. The
groundwater samples collected from monitoring well MW--2 contained
10,000 ppb TPH-G, 310 ppb benzene, 440 ppb toluene, 170 ppb ethyl
benzene, 1,100 ppb total xylenes, 1,400 ppb MTBE, 4.8 ppb tert-amyl
methyl ether (TAME), and 82 ppb TBA. The groundwater samples
collected from monitoring well MW-4 contained 260 ppb TPH-G, 17 p p b
benzene, 5.0 ppb ethyl benzene, 7.5 ppb total xylenes, 140 ppb MTBE, a n d
6.0 ppb TAME. The groundwater samples collected from monitoring well
MW-5 contained 2,600 ppb TPH-G. 11 ppb ethyl benzene, 1.6 ppb ethyl
benzene, 84 ppb MTBE, and 52 ppb TBA. There were no compounds
detected above laboratory reporting limits in groundwater samples
collected from monitoring well MW-3.
3 . 0 SCOPE OF WORK (SOW)
Based on the site history and discussions with Mr. Harlin Knoll of the San
Joaquin County PHS-EHD, ASE has developed the following scope of work
to provide necessary data for the site assessment. The proposed SOW is as
follows:
I ) Prepare a workplan for review and approval from the San Joaquin
County PHS-EHD.
~' 2) Prepare an area well survey to identify wells within a 2,000-foot
radius of the site.
574 West Grant Line Road CAP — January 2002
-3-
