' 1 . 0 INTRODUCTION
This report outlines the methods and findings of Aqua Science Engineers,
Inc (ASE)'s soil and groundwater assessment at 574 West Grant Line Road
in Tracy, California (Figures 1 and 2) The site assessment activities were
initiated by Mr J Benjamin McGrew, Receiver for the Superior Court Mr
McGrew, as an officer of the Superior Court, was nominated and confirmed
to this case by CivicBank of Commerce, as plaintiff in the civil case against
Lester C Scott and Betty L Scott, property owners
2 . 0 SITE HISTORY AND BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The site is currently a Unocal Service Station with three (3) 8,000 gallon
gasoline underground storage tanks (USTs) piped to four dispensers
(Figure 2) According to information supplied to ASE by the San Joaquin
' County Environmental Health Division (SJCEHD), the USTs were lined b y
Armor Shield in 1986, however, the product lines and dispensers were not
upgraded at the time
On March 6, 1998, ASE seniormana manager ect ro
p jg David Allen visited the
SJCEHD to review files for two neighboring service stations in an effort to
determine groundwater flow direction and their current environmental
status The two sites reviewed were the BP service station located at 2375
' Tracy Boulevard (west of the subject site), and the former Chevron service
station located at 575 Grant Line Road (north of the subject site)
' BP SERVICE STATION
The BP service station (formerly Mobil), located across Tracy Boulevard,
installed fourteen (14) groundwater monitoring wells on and off-site since
1990 In addition, a pump and treat groundwater remediation system
formally operated at the site The groundwater at this site is currently
1 monitored periodically The groundwater beneath this site contains
detectable concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline
(TPH-G), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (collectively
known as BTEX) and methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) The groundwater
flow direction beneath this site has been consistently toward t h e
northwest
' FORMER CHEVRON SERVICE STATION
1 Since 1995, four groundwater monitoring wells have been monitored at
this site on a quarterly basis Detectable TPH-G, total petroleum
i• hydrocarbons as diesel (TPH-D), BTEX and MTBE concentrations have been
Iidentified in groundwater samples collected from these wells The
574 West Grant Line Road, Tracy, California - April 1998
