rtANAJLYTICAL LLC
March 24,2005
Mr.Damon Brown
SECOR International,Inc
3017 Kilgore Road,Suite 100
Rancho Cordova,CA 95670
RE:7-Eleven Store#32262 2360 Grant Line Road Tracy,CA 95376
Dear Mr.Brown,
Attached please find our chromatograms for your sample CPT-1-60 taken during the 7-Eleven Store#32262 cone
penetrometer testing performed on August 2,2004. This sample is our lab identification number 39450-03.
We did not find any MSDS's for pipe thread compound(pipe dope)that specifically list 2-ethyl-1-hexanol as an
ingredient. Our suggestion that there is a relationship between pipe thread compound and 2-ethyl-1-hexanol is based
on many years of testing samples from groundwater treatment systems. We have noticed that when plumbing in these
systems is reconfigured or repaired, the concentration of 2-ethyl-l-hexanol in the treated water sometimes increases
dramatically for a time,in segments that are consistent with!the modified plumbing.
With the cooperation of a treatment system operator,we can attempt to firm up our hypothesis by testing samples of
the plumbing materials when we observe this phenomenon in the future.
Regarding the attached data,we have included the chromatogram for the analytical run(first page)and the mass
spectrum and library spectrum for the 2-ethyl-l-hexanol peak(second page). The 2-ethyl-l-hexanol peak is the large
un-labeled peak at 17.1 minutes. We have run known standards for this compound,so there is no doubt as to its
identity.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Jo tff
Laboratory Director
Kiff Analytical,LLC
Attachments:
Chromatograms
Kifr Analytieat,LLC 2795 Second Street,Suite 300,Davis,CA 95616 530.297A800 530.297.4808(fax)
